Steve Rogers grew up in Upstate New York, hiking, camping, fishing, and canoeing around the Northeast. He served a Peace Corps term in the Philippines from 1979 to 1981 and now lives in a small indigenous community in the mountains of the northern Philippines, where he guides trekking, canyoning, mountain biking, and white water trips.
He operates a small outdoor equipment shop and can often be found exploring new trails in the inner reaches of the Luzon Cordillera. At 61 he is in the process of managing his own transition into the ranks of older hikers. He also writes on a wide array of subjects, raises two boys, and has been known to throw shields around.
