About Just A Colorado Gal
I’m an early 30s Colorado gal who loves to play! I started writing on this blog 7 years ago but it has definitely gone through major changes since then. In 2005, my ex-boyfriend and I decided to uproot our lives and leave the “known” for at least a year. We hopped on our bicycles and spent 4 months riding across the United States. Originally, I wrote occasional posts on here just to keep friends and family back home up-to-date with what we were doing and where we were going. That got even more important in December, 2005. We had completed our cycling journey in Miami, and to continue the fun, we each bought one-way tickets to South America.
We spent the better part of a year, traipsing around South and Central America, visiting as many countries and cultures as we possibly could. It was an awesome year, but I quickly realized that again, this blog was a great way to share stories and pictures with my loved ones back in Colorado. (Of course, that got tricky because uploading pics with a dial-up connection from the southern most point in the continent got a little time consuming…. but I digress!) I also did some travel writing for publications along the way, detailing my outdoor activities in various countries.
In 2012, I decided to start writing again. I’m stateside now, happily living back home in the good ol’ CO, so I decided to dust off my journalism degree and give the written word a shot.
